INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

The Medical University of Warsaw has managed to establish recognized international position in research, both in the clinical and theoretical medicine.
The University has scientific research cooperation with many universities and research institutions in Europe, especially Germany, France, Sweden, Netherlands, Austria and Great Britain. At present this cooperation is being developed also with other foreign partners from Europe, USA and Asia – China, India, Malaysia and Japan.
Research projects are conducted and developed in the clinical medicine in nephrology, transplantology, cardiology, haemathology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, dermatology, neurology, pulmonology, ophthalmology, urology, surgery, orthopaedics, paediatrics, gynaecology and obstetrics, venereology and dentistry, as well as in theoretical medicine (histology, immunology, anatomy, biology, pharmacology and physiology).
The scientific cooperation involves exchange of researchers, joint research projects and publications. Research at the Medical University of Warsaw is funded by the University’s own funds, grants from the Polish Committee for Scientific Research (approx. 150 projects annually), and by the European Union research funds (6th and 7th Framework Programmes).
The most important international agreements are:
- “European Register for Organs, Cells and Tissues (EUROCET)”,
- “Effect of Nanoparticles on Complement System in Cell Culture Model (5 USAF)”,
- “Optimization and pre-validation of in vitro test strategy for predicting human acute toxicity (AcuteTox)”,
- „Maintenance, Development and Promotion of the ISS Hospital Survey in the current and enlarged UE (IDB)”,
- “Analysis of DNA repair mechanisms leading to etoposide-induced MLL rearrangements and therapy-related leukemia Marie Curie Actions MOIF-CT-2005”,
- “European Network for Safety among Elderly (EUNESE)”.
Academic teachers and students participate in different scientific conferences and sessions all over the world. More than 30 international congresses were held at the Medical University of Warsaw last year.
The Medical University of Warsaw, understanding the importance of the Polish National Strategy and the directions and effects of its policy, would be implementing funds for different investments, educational and research projects (Structural Funds, European Economic Area and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms).
