NIAID/NIH Delegation visit to MUW

On March 25, Medical University of Warsaw hosted US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) delegations. The visit was a direct result of the signing of an agreement on cooperation in biomedical research between the Polish Minister of Health Łukasz Szumowski and US Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar in Washington on July 14, 2018. The agreement gives Polish academic institutions, such as MUW, and American institutions such as NIH, the framework to undertake more detailed cooperation contracts.

NIH is made up of 27 Institutes and Centers, each with a specific research agenda, often focusing on particular diseases or body systems. NIAID is the second largest NIH Institute with a Global Research fund of $700 million US dollars to support the discoveries of scientists in the United States and around the world who are helping to improve the health of millions of people, advance public health policy and clinical practice.
